Space 3D Thermal (TSS V12.01 and Sinda/Fluint 4.1 C)
Wednesday August 10, 2005
9:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Space 3D Thermal, with TSS V12.01 and Sinda/Fluint 4.1C, continues to lead the way as the “workhorse” for the spacecraft thermal industry. The latest version features numerous enhancements and increased performance by Spacedesign Corporation (www.spacedesign.com).

Boolean operations have been added to TSS for additional creativity when importing and building models. Examples include intersections, unions, and cuts between surface geometry (see intersection image). This enhancement is achieved by adding boundary representation (BREP) capability to the TSS surface database. Adding BREP to TSS allows direct translation of CAD models into TSS for a more detailed radiation analysis.

Additional physics have also been incorporated into TSS V12.01 with (1) calculation of heat absorption inside solid objects, such as quartz prisms and quartz lens, and (2) calculation of forces caused by radiation pressure on an object. Also, better integration with Space 3D Stuctural Analysis Tool (SAT) allows TSS results to be applied to SAT structural models and structural deformation from SAT to be applied to thermal models.

The supported solver for Space 3D Thermal, Spacedesign Sinda/Fluint 4.1 C, is also enhanced with spreadsheet capable SYMBOLS which use auto-calculation for increased modeling versatility. This enhancement is especially powerful for performing parametric design and analysis.
