Thermal/Vacuum Testing Panel Discussion

Glenn Tsuyuki, Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Thermal testing throughout NASA encompasses a wide spectrum activity from the component- to flight system-level. Much of NASA missions are prototypes with unique verification and validation requirements. This discussion panel will offer an opportunity for a number of NASA centers to summarize their thermal testing philosophy during the first hour. In the concluding hour, the discussion will then address issues of interest at a NASA-wide level.: Should there be a NASA thermal test standard? Should NASA align to MIL-1540 or some other existing standard? How can we share testing lessons learned?; and What industry practices should NASA adopt for testing?
